GFA ends pursuit of Ayew brothers and Amartey for Mexico clash
The Ghana Football Association will not make any further pleas to convince West Ham United, Swansea City and Leicester City to release Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew and Daniel Amartey for the friendlies against Mexico on June 28 and USA on July 3.
The Premier League clubs wrote to the Ghana Football Association to excuse the trio from the friendly encounters because the games are not sanctioned under FIFA’s calendar.
The Black Stars of Ghana started an early shake up on Monday, June 19 at the Accra Sports Stadium without the three players due to their clubs unwillingness to permit the GFA to use the players.
Andre Ayew and Daniel Amartey played the full 90 minutes as Ghana walloped Ethiopia 5:0 at the Baba Yara Stadium. Jordan Ayew however replaced Asamoah Gyan in the latter stages of the game.
