13 OUT OF 20 SUSPECTED COVID- 19 CASES TEST NEGATIVE FOR BOTH WESTERN REGION AND WESTERN NORTH REGION

Information reaching Beachfmonline indicates that 13 out of 20 suspected Covid -19 Cases for both Western region and Western North region have tested negative at Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical research and Kumasi Center for collaborative research in Tropical Medicine respectively with 7 pending for further investigations

WESTERN REGION

The latest results of 18 respiratory swab samples from the Western region which has been test by Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical research reveals that 11 of the suspected Covid 19 cases have tested negative with 7 of the cases pending for further investigation

According to Daniel Bomfeh, Health promotion Officer of the Western Region Directorate of Public Health “eleven out of a total of eighteen samples submitted for viral test, came out negative”.

Mr Bomfeh went on to add that he cannot give an exact date for when the 7 pending results will be released by Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical research

“I can’t give a definite date as when they will arrive. It may be today or tomorrow”

He added that the cases are concentrated in Sekondi, Tarkwa and Effia Kwesimintsim Municipality.

In conclusion he advised stakeholders to report the facts about the Covid-19 to control the level of fear and panic in the system

“The rumors, the videos are scary, … there is fear and panic but we doing some risk communication to assure the people that, yes its scary but we have put in measures to control the pandemic” he added

WESTERN NORTH

In the Western North there were four rumoured cases that were reported but only two of the cases meet the case definition of Covid -19.

This lead to further investigation to be conducted on the two of the cases at the Kumasi Center for collaborative research in Tropical Medicine.

“The result of the investigation at the lab revealed negative for all the two cases”
