The primary suspect implicated in the murder of Princess Afia Ahenkan, a 35-year-old businesswoman in Apaaso near Sokoban within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly of the Ashanti region, has confessed to the crime in a court of law.

Allister John, the primary suspect, served as a security guard for the deceased. He, along with his accomplice James Anokye, was apprehended through a targeted intelligence-led operation on September 14, 2023.

According to the police, the two suspects went into hiding with the deceased’s KIA Sportage private car bearing registration number GS 307-21, which they subsequently sold. The car has since been recovered at Adenta, along with its documentation, and has been impounded at the Oyibi Police Station for further investigation.

On September 15, 2023, the suspects were brought before the Asokore Mampong district court and remanded to reappear on October 3, 2023.

The facts of the case presented during the court proceedings revealed that the alleged crime involved a conspiracy among five individuals, including the two remanded suspects. The prosecution indicated that efforts were underway to apprehend the other three suspects who are currently at large.

Although the suspects did not enter a plea, the primary suspect, Allister John, admitted to committing the crime and took full responsibility for his actions. He also appealed to the court for leniency after the facts of the case were read to the suspects.

During the court session, the prosecution requested that the suspects be remanded to allow the police to conduct further investigations into the matter.
