Takoradi Market Health Post to Get NHIS Accreditation

The ultra modern Takoradi Market Health Post yet to be commissioned is seeking accreditation from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to enable the less privilege to easily access health service from the facility as it seeks to promote effective health care delivery to the society in line with the National policy to eradicate the cash and carry system which deters many people from seeking better health care service.

In an exclusive interview with Spice FM’s Kojo Ennimil Arthur, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metro Health Director, Mrs. Joyce K. Bagina Surtherland mentioned that she working vigorously to get the facility NHIS accreditation before its commence operation. This she said will make the facility accessible by all.

According to her, the Health Post in the Takoradi Market will at least have one Physician Assistant, Two General Nurses, Three Community Health Workers, a Pharmacist and one Orderly to manage the facility at least 18 hours daily.

“There will be two beds in the facility to help detain patients for observation and if its not better, we will refer to either European [Takoradi] Hospital or the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospitals for further treatment.”
As the first point of call for people around the market circle, Mrs. Surtherland noted that the level of care to be provided by the newly constructed health post in the Takoradi Market Circle would be a little higher than the normal CHPS compounds.
