Bible Society of Ghana Organizes African Biblical Leadership Initiative Youth Forum to Train Youth on Integrity and Service

The Headmaster of the Ghana Secondary Technical School, GSTS Reverend Dr Kennedy Obeng has called on leaders to exhibit a high sense of honesty and probity as they are among the many qualities a good leader must possess.

According to him, leadership is everything and as such one must have integrity when placed in any leadership position to be able to lead. Reverend Dr Obeng who was spoke at the African Biblical Leadership Initiative, ABLI Youth Forum in Takoradi organized by the Bible Society of Ghana mentioned that leaders are important in every facet of life as nothing can be accomplished or achieved without an effective and efficient leader.

The ABLI programme which saw youths drawn from various churches within the Western Region aims at equipping, inspiring and encouraging leaders to ignite personal and cultural transformation in Africa. Its message of change and transformation is anchored on the biblical values of integrity, harmony and social justice.

Reverend Dr Obeng spoke on the topic, “Integrity – the Trans-generational leader’s identity said leadership is a higher calling that requires sacrifice, conviction, candour, consistency and completeness. He added that leaders must eschew hypocrisy and let sincerity be their hallmark.

The Western Regional Chairman of the Oversight Committee of the Bible Society of Ghana, BSG Elder Kweku Kum said the vision for the ABLI is to empower African leaders with biblical truths which will foster integrity in leadership. He said the BSG since 2014 has successfully conducted the ABLI and this year’s event was targeted at the youth as they are the future leaders and must be empowered to hold leadership positions.

Elder Kum said indiscipline, lawlessness, bribery and corruption among others can be minimized or eradicated when the capacities of the youths are built to live a life of integrity.

Touching on Integrity and Servant Leadership, the PENSA Traveling Secretary for the Takoradi Sector, Pastor Emmanuel Opoku Mensah said the best model of leadership is the Christ-like leadership where Jesus Christ portrayed the perfect servant-leader role.

For him, integrity is a necessity in the Kingdom of God which Christians and leaders are to always uphold. He urged leaders to cultivate a culture of humility in order to reach far in life.
