FDA Urges Public To Use MedSafety App To Report Adverse Reactions Of Medications

Launched in June 2019 by the Ministry of Health, MedSafetyApp is designed to track and report suspected side effects of drugs individuals may consume or use on their bodies to relevant authorities.

As part of commemorating MedSafetyWeek 2023, the Food and Drugs Authority, FDA is encouraging the public to make use of the MedSafetyApp to report suspected adverse reactions to medicines.

The Western Regional Public Relations Officer of the FDA, Solomon Kwabena Bonney, says the November 6–November 12 week-long campaign is to create awareness of the safety and proper use of medicines.

“MedSafetyApp lets people report in terms of any effect or reaction that an individual may get from taking any medicine or products that the FDA regulates. This app was created so that people can report their side effects whenever they take medicine.

This is a way of intensifying public awareness that there is an application that they can use to lodge their complaints on products they react to when consumed.”

Regulatory Officer Sadique Abubakar, on his part, touched on the advantages of downloading and using the Med Safety Application.

He says individuals can create a “watchlist” of medications to receive personalized news and alerts.

Sadique Abubakar encouraged consumers, patients, and healthcare professionals to use the Med Safety App because it is a quick and easy way to report adverse reactions to the Food and Drugs Authority, FDA
