Public Advised To Pursue Healthy Living

A nutritionist, Amanda Nketsiah, has said eating right is the very primary thing to consider as person, as well as having a balanced meal no matter the health goal.

According to her, dieting plays a big role on people’s health.

Speaking in an interview with Macall Mensah on the Midmorning Lounge, she gave details into meals a person should have more or less of, stating that taking in “more proteins, eating the right kind of carbohydrates and quality fibre” can help a person achieve their health goal.

She also gave a clear clarification in reference to protein meals, saying on a scale of 1 to 100, the portions must be struck per meal and not per day, that is “40 to 60 percent carbohydrates and 20 to 40 percent of proteins and also 20 to 30 percent of fats, so generally the rule of thumb is to strike a balance”.

She stated that, having carbohydrates, proteins, fibre and water, that is, basically taking a bit of every food catergory will help a person attain a balanced diet.

In giving examples of what meals can be taken at particular times in a day, Madam Nketsiah said “it’ll basically depend on your schedule” and recommended that breakfast hours starts from 8 am because as every meal according to her has “it’s duration for digestion so if you don’t eat your breakfast early and eat lunch, the breakfast may not have digested well enough”, which would results in the body being overworked.

She gave another rule of thumb stating that people eat two hours before bedtime so that the body will have enough time to digest the food to avoid indigestion.

She advised individuals to eat well from breakfast to dinner stating that “if you eat well in the morning and afternoon, you may or may not have to eat much in the evening”.
