Gaza War: China calls for ceasefire, willing to do whatever needed to end violence

Gaza

China’s special envoy on the Middle East, Zhai Jun, has expressed China’s willingness to take actions that are conducive to promoting dialogue, securing a ceasefire, and restoring peace in the deepening conflict in Gaza.

He is currently on a diplomatic tour of the region and has described the situation in Gaza as “very serious.”

Zhai Jun has also raised concerns about the potential for a large-scale ground conflict and armed conflicts spreading to neighboring countries.

During a peace summit in Cairo, Zhai Jun called for an immediate ceasefire and a swift end to the fighting.

He emphasized China’s belief that the use of force is not a solution to the problem and that responding to violence with violence will only lead to a cycle of revenge.

China has maintained relations with Israel while also supporting the Palestinian cause for decades.

Zhai Jun’s diplomatic efforts in the region aim to secure humanitarian supplies for Gaza and work towards a ceasefire.

China has provided and will continue to provide emergency assistance to Palestinians through the UN and bilateral channels to alleviate the humanitarian crisis.

In recent developments, the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt was opened to allow aid trucks to enter Gaza, providing medical aid, food, and water to the territory, which is home to approximately 2.3 million people.
