Soft-skinned bullion vans will not be used again

All soft-skinned bullion vans will no longer be in use throughout Ghana, according to the Association of Bullion Van Operators in Ghana.

According to the Association, banks have been advised not to allow soft-skinned vans inside their facilities.

Additionally, the Ghana Police Service had threatened to stop sending officers on bank escorts if the soft-skinned vans were not removed.

Armoured vans will now be used for cash pickups, according to Alhaji Iddi Sumiala, President of the Association.

He assured the public early on that no soft-skinned vehicle will be used to transport money beginning on July 1, 2023.

According to Alhaji Sumaila, the association is committed to seeing that all banks in the nation use the 150 available bullion vans by the deadline.

This choice was made in response to the rise in armed robberies against vans across the nation.

The most recent assault happened earlier this month when four armed robbers targeted a bullion van in Ablekuma, Accra, killing the police escort in the process.
