NPP Polls: ” We want elections to be held again “– Aggrieved Polling station executives to Regional leadership

Some aggrieved members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of the Kumfueku Township, a suburb of the Aboadze Electoral Area in the Shama Constituency are demanding the re-election of Polling station executives as they suspect foul play in the elections held earlier.

According to the Secretary of Methodist Primary School Polling Station at Kumfueku, Joseph Amenfi, the elections were not conducted on fairgrounds.

This assertion comes on the ground of an election held on Sunday, February 27, 2022, to elect polling station executives in the constituency.

He said none of the contestants from the camp of Honorable Panford had their forms selected but those on the side of Lawyer Abekah were declared unopposed.

He described the act portrayed by the election officials as discriminatory and uncalled for, therefore calling for re-election.

Amenfi reiterated that reports received from Shama and adjoining towns indicates that there were disturbances accompanied by the elections, which he described as “unhealthy”.

He however called on the party leadership to step into the matter and organize the elections again under the supervision of the electoral commission.

Nicholas Arthur, the Youth Organizer narrated that the election ground was invaded by heavily built men who assaulted some of the party members who insisted the right thing to be done.

“It was an eyesore during the elections. The NPP party is a peaceful organization but some people want to take the laws into their hands,” he stated.
