Ghana Will Have IMF Board Approval By End of March – President Expresses Optimism

The President, Nana Akuffo Addo has expressed optimism about the country obtaining an International Monetary Fund (IMF) board approval by end of this month.

Last year, Ghana achieved a staff-level agreement with the IMF and concluded negotiations in the Domestic Debt Exchange Program.

Ghana is now negotiating with its international debt holders on possible debt relief.

President Akuffo revealed that China, the largest creditor to Ghana has sent a delegation from Beijing to meet with officials of the Ministry of Finance to agree by the end of this month.

President said this while addressing diplomats at the Annual New Year Greetings at Peduase in the Eastern Region.

He noted that the approval by the board of the IMF will set the stage for economic recovery.
