The Liverpool City Region initiative hopes to help in bridging the digital divide in Halton.
500 tablets, training, and mobile internet access will be given over the course of the upcoming year.
Too many people in the borough, according to Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram, are digitally excluded, which harms their prospects.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the initiative was a five-year project in which councils collaborated with the nonprofit and private sectors.
A further 4,250 tablets will be distributed across the wider city region, which includes the Merseyside boroughs of Knowsley, St Helens, Wirral, Sefton and Liverpool.
37 % of people in Halton, according to data from the Lloyds Banking Group’s 2022 Essential Digital Skills Survey, had “low or very low” levels of online proficiency.
