WN/R: NPP Refutes NDC’s Assertion That Bia East DCE Diverted Agricultural Input

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Bia East, Nicholas Niber, has been accused of diverting agricultural inputs, according to recent National Democratic Congress (NDC) charges, which the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bia East Constituency has vehemently denied.

The NPP has decried these allegations as unfounded and an effort to damage Nicholas Niber’s character.

The controversy started when the NDC asserted that Nicholas Niber’s home had been used to store agricultural inputs distributed by the District Assembly Common Fund.

The NPP retaliated by criticizing the NDC’s motivations and expressing amazement at their willingness to spread such misleading information.

“The fact is the Bia East district assembly has been taking inventory of all materials or items that come in the name of the assembly,” stated the NPP’s Communication Director, Kwabena Nyarko.

“The records keeping and filing strength of the assembly earned them their recent award among other assemblies within the Western North region.”

The NPP continued by highlighting the fact that the government’s plan to help farmers through Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) is well-known and not a secret.

All items received on behalf of the assembly have been inventoried by the procurement and related departments of the Bia East district assembly, eradicating any suspicion of fraud.

“The calculated attempt by the NDC-Bia East to tarnish the image of Nicholas Niber with falsehood is unacceptable,” asserted the Communication Director.

The NPP ascribed the NDC’s actions to pressure and apprehension brought on by Nicholas Niber’s triumph as a parliamentary candidate in the 2020 elections and his position as DCE since 2021.

Instead of making unfounded accusations, the NPP challenged the NDC-Bia East to show any proof of wrongdoing to the proper authorities.

“If the NDC-Bia East has any evidence of wrongdoing against anyone in the District Assembly including our respected DCE, they would have proceeded to report the case to the police and other relevant authorities for further investigations,” noted the NPP.
