Sadio Mane to Miss 2022 World Cup Due Last-Minute Injury

Sadio Mane

Prior to World Cup 2022, there has been a lot of injury updates on star players who will be missing the tournament, the latest to join the list is Sadio Mane.

With 20 minutes of play, he was substituted with Leroy Sane.

After the game, assistant coach Dino Toppmöller said,

“Sadio Mané took a knock to his leg, causing a slight nerve pinch.

Nothing too serious and his participation at the World Cup shouldn’t be at risk.”

However, earlier Wednesday morning, report by
French newspaper L’equipe indicate that Sadio Mane is ruled out of the Qatar Fifa World Cup.

Mane, who joined Bayern from Liverpool for £35million in the summer, has been very instrumental in the Senegal National team, steering them on their way to winning this year’s Africa Cup of Nations as well as beating Egypt on penalties in the final, and subsequently booking their world cup qualification ahead of same rival.

He has picked up 93 caps for his country and scored 34 times.

With 11 days to go, and 12 days for Senegal to play their first game, it will be disheartening for Senegalese if their talisman truly miss the world sport fiesta.

Many sport pundits, before news about players unavailability for the showpiece have emerged, expressed their fear of players missing out if the tournament happens in winter, and therefore advocated for it to be played in summer: but playing the tournament in summer wasn’t favorable due to the hot weather condition of Qatar.
