The Director of Public Affairs of GWCL, Stanley Martey, has berated some human practices that account for the increase in production thus increasing utility tariffs.
According to him, aside from activities of illegal mining, water thefts, frequent power outages building in pipelines, the practice of aquaculture on water bodies are some contributing factors to water pollution.
Mr Martey speaking at a stakeholder meeting reveals the high investment the Company is making to provide safe water for consumers.
Consumer activities in managing water and safeguarding water bodies, he said, are low.
Adding her voice to the matter, the Program Officer of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, WASH at the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Suza Baidoo encouraged the public to use water wisely and desist from activities that affect water bodies.
