Ablakwa clarifies – My campaign against Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng not personal

Ablakwa

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency, has denied engaging in a personal feud with Reverend Victor Kusi Boateng, the Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral.

Ablakwa clarified that he does not personally know Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng and that his actions are simply a result of exercising his parliamentary oversight regarding his concerns with the National Cathedral Board of Trustees’ secretary.

On July 13, the High Human Rights Court dismissed the contempt charges filed against Ablakwa by Rev. Kusi Boateng. Following his victory in court, Ablakwa stated that his conflict with Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng arose from discovering a conflict of interest. He alleged that while serving on the National Cathedral board, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng made payments to JNS Talent Centre Ltd, where he also serves as a director under the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, in an attempt to conceal his involvement.

Ablakwa emphasized that this issue is not personal and that he had no prior relationship with Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng. He described the court ruling as a triumph for truth and parliamentary oversight, enabling him to continue his investigations and publications.

In his exposé, Ablakwa claimed that JNS Talent Centre Ltd, owned by Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, received GH¢2.6 million for the construction of the National Cathedral under the pseudonym Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. He presented documents suggesting that Kwabena Adu Gyamfi is the same person as Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, who currently serves as an Executive Council Member/Director on the National Cathedral Board.

Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng responded to the allegations, stating that Ablakwa’s claims were a distorted narrative of events. He threatened to take legal action against the MP, leading to the filing of charges that were ultimately dismissed by the High Court in Accra.

The recent dismissal of charges against Ablakwa by the Human Rights Court was announced today.
