Three children wounded in school shooting in Finland, suspect arrested

Three 13-year-old children have been injured in a shooting incident at Viertola school in Vantaa, Finland, according to the local police.

The authorities were alerted to the situation before 09:00 (06:00 GMT) on Tuesday and advised residents in the area to stay indoors.

The police have apprehended a suspect, also 13 years old, in connection with the incident.

Viertola school, which has around 800 students and 90 staff members, covers both primary and middle-school ages, ranging from seven to 15 years old.

Witnesses reported that two ambulances were dispatched from the scene.

This incident occurred shortly after the Easter weekend when Finnish schools resumed classes.
