The Deputy Director of the Western Regional National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr Francis Dusey, has advised the youth to avoid acts that could destabilize the peace and economic development of the country.

“Don’t allow yourselves to be used by a certain class of people to achieve their parochial interest…we have nowhere to turn to as a country”.

Mr Dusey was speaking at the maiden meeting of the Metropolis Inter-party Dialogue Committee held in Sekondi.

He urged the Committee members to work hard, identify early warning signs, speak the truth to ensure that the ingredients of peace were enhanced to propel the country’s development.

Nana Kofi Abuna, the Chief of Essipon affirmed the need for peaceful coexistence adding, “blessed are the peacemakers for they shall inherit the earth”.

Already, the Ghana Police Service has identified 453 flashpoints across the country, and in the Metropolis, Essikado/Ketan is one of such hotspots.

Mr. Lan Kwame Tugbenu, the Metro Director of the NCCE said the committee had been charged with the responsibility of organising interactive inter-party dialogue in the resolution of conflicts, and deepening collaboration between all stakeholders among other things.

He added that the members would also monitor the enforcement of the electoral rules and regulations, promote peace, and advance information sharing.

Ultimately, the committee would focus on mediation and the resolution of conflicts.
