The president of Ghana his excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has granted presidential amnesty to eight Hundred and eight convict Prisoners.
The decision was taken upon the recommendation of the prison Service Council in consultation with council of state in accordance with Article 72(1) of the constitution.
The category of convicts who benefited from the Amnesty include first offenders(783), seriously ill(11), inmates on death row to be commuted to life imprisonment(7), inmate serving life sentence to have sentence commuted to 20 years definite term(4) and the very old prisoners(70 years and above)
