MAJOR RENOVATION WORKS TO COMMENCE AT ESSIPONG STADIUM

A general inspection exercise for major renovation works at the Essipong Sport Stadium was conducted on monday May 4, 2020.

The exercise led by the Minister of Youth and Sports Honourable Isaac Asiamah had Western Regional Minister Honoured Kobby Okyere Darko as well as other top executives in attendance.

After the inspection, Honourable Asiamah indicated that the renovation of the Sekondi Sports Stadium is scheduled in two phases.

He said “The scope of work for phase one includes; the existing defective roofing sheets will be removed and replaced. General renovation of offices, plumbing and air condition works will include replacement of existing defective sanitary appliances, repair of lifts, fire fighting systems and air condition units.

He further noted that phase two which will follow will “look at the spectators seats which will be repaired and replaced. Electrical installation, external works and completion of uncompleted works like the hotel section and shops.

The sports minister gave assurance that the ministry will develop a maintenance manual to aid in ensuring strict maintenance culture at the stadium.

The first phase which will cost a total of GHC 17,969,447.10 is scheduled to be completed in twelve calendar months.
