Jerry Akaminko rubbishes claims of feud with Sumaila

Black Stars defender Jerry Akaminko has revealed he is on good terms with Rashid Sumaila despite speculations that the Al Gharafa centre back was behind a serious injury which ruled him out of the 2014 Fifa World Cup.
Akaminko was a certainty for the 2014 world cup until he  landed awkwardly during a friendly against the Netherlands prior to Ghana’s campaign in Brazil dashed his dreams and kept him out of action for several months.
Rashid Sumaila was accused of being behind Akaminko’s injury allegedly using “black magic” to cause Akaminko’s injury to enhance his own chances of making the Brazil trip. Jerry Akaminko has however poured cold water on those claims stating that he believes his injury was not mastermind by anyone and has a very good relationship with his fellow center back.
Aaminko said that “the story was framed by someone and I heard it at my base. More importantly, I don’t see him (Rashid Sumaila) that way so need to call off the relationship I have with him”
“He is not my enemy. We play the same role, meet and talk. From the outside, people see things different from how we see it. There is no problem. It was good to see him” Akaminko added.
Jerry Akaminko earned his first call up into the national team when Ghana played Ethiopia last Sunday. He however, failed to make an appearance in the game game.
