Ghana Plans To Host FIFA World Cup In 2038.

The Director-General of the NDPC, Dr Nii Moi Thompson has revealed Ghana is planning to host the 2038 FIFA World Cup as part of the country’s 40-year national development plan, which he thinks will help bolster the economy of Ghana.
Former President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama in August 2015 launched the 40-year development plan which is aimed at putting things in place to enhance the economy.
As part of the long-term plan tabled down, government will take into considering the possibility of bidding for the World Cup in 21 years time.
“As part of the 40-year development plan, a new stadium called the “Black Star Stadium” will be constructed with the “best 21st Century technology while the roof would be made up of solar panels”. The stadium will be connected by to road and rail networks,” he said on Metro TV’s good evening Ghana.
“President Akufo-Addo who received the 40-year national development plan on September 26, 2017 and admitted that it “presents my government and subsequent governments with a daunting task, not so much the implementation, but to stay on track and ensure we have the desired outcome.
We must be able to monitor our progress, and redirect our paths when we seem to be deviating from them,” he added.
“We must, therefore, make rapid progress, and do things to ensure that we achieve it.
“Without pre-empting the contents of the plan, President Akufo-Addo in stating some of his aspirations was hopeful of a Ghana with “a strong, buoyant economy that will provide decent jobs for all; and that our school leavers from secondary and university will not spend an inordinate amount of time, as they do now, to get a job or create one for themselves and for others.”
This means Ghana could become the second African country to host the prestigious tournament after South Africa did in 2010.
Ghana hosted the AFCON in 2008 and the WAFU Cup of Nations just recently and it happens to be the major tournament the country have hosted in the last 50 years and over.
