An articulated truck driver met his untimely death Tuesday December 12, 2017 at the quarry site of the General Development Company (GDC) close to the Justmac quarry at Ngyiresia a suburb of Essikadu.
The driver whose name has been given as Kofi had gone to the quarry site to buy chippings at around 2:00pm. After his truck with registration number GE 6661 – 16 had been loaded he was going to pick his waybill when he realized his truck was reversing on its own.
He then rushed to the back of the loaded double axel man diesel truck to attempt to stop it. There was another truck close by waiting for it turn to be loaded. This truck with registration number GS 8407 17 was few meters away from driver Kofi’s truck.
Apparently, Kofi was trying to prevent his truck from hitting the truck in waiting.
However the load pulled him under his own truck. Unfortunately for him one of the front tyres trapped him and in the process run over his head killing him instantly.
Meanwhile, Kofi’s head had to be gathered with a shovel into an ambulance with the headless body.
