Ghana’s Earnings From Non-traditional Exports Rise By 6% In 2022

Ghana’s Non-Traditional Export for 2022 amounted to about 3.5 billion dollars representing a 6 per cent increase over export earnings.

Despite the slow growth rate occasioned by the impact of COVID-19 on manufacturing, the sector has contributed to overall export earnings accounting for over 20.22 per cent of total export in the past year through product value addition.

Delivering a report on the analysis of NTE for the year, the Chief Executive of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, GEPA, Dr. Efua Asibea Asare said the regulator is not only working to actualize its 10-year national export development strategy but also leveraging on the service sector ta make a mark on the global market.

She projected that the earnings from the service sector increase from 2.8 million in 2018 to an annual NTA target of at least 25 million by 2029.

Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, in charge of International trade, Nana Ama Dokua Asiama Agyei said despite the prevailing economic circumstance, the NTA continues to show resilience in providing much-needed foreign exchange earnings.

She, however, called on allied institutions to partner government and take advantage of existing initiatives to sustain the growth of the economy.
