BE CAREFUL OF CLEARANCE SALES, FDA CAUTIONS AHEAD OF CHRISTMAS

The Western Regional Food and Drug Authority has cautioned consumers against products that have been reduced on the Shelves for the purpose of immediate clearance as we go into Christmas.

Clearance Sale as a marketing Strategy offers discount to consumers to allow businesses to clear old stock to make room for new product line. This strategy is expected to be adopted by many businesses as Christmas looms.

Speaking on the spice FM’s morning show “adzekyemusem” with Osikani frimpong Manso, the regulatory officer of Food and Drugs Board Authority in the Western region, Mr Benjamin Appiasam Dodson lamented that the expiry date for Majority of food products in markets are almost due hence they are sold out through strategy called reduce clearance.

“Most supper markets and shops during the occasion intends to sell their products due to the fact that the product are near expiry, therefore it is important for Consumers to pay crucial attention to the products they buy and look out for the original certified numbers provided by the FDA or FDB as well”.

Mr Benjamin Appiasam Dodson appealed to consumers to be mindful of the temperature in which food products are stored and desist from buying drugs and products from persons who sells in public transports and at bus terminals because they don’t have the right to sell at these Centers

He adviced Consumers to cultivate the habit of asking questions before they buy products either from the supermarkets or pharmacies irrespective of the standard of Shop or its location.
