Leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mutala Mohammed has described the ongoing brouhaha surrounding the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson as an attempt by members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to discredit the EC’s chair ahead of her declaration of future elections.
According to him, the attempt to impeach the EC’s chair will not hold except to throw mud at her.
Mutala Mohammed and Isaac Adongo were addressing members of the NDC at a lecture organized by the Coalition for Restoration.
The Coalition for Restoration is a pro NDC group with the aim to restore the NDC back to power come 2020. The coalition organized its maiden lecture on the 2018 budget under the theme “From Taxation To Production.”
Touching on the current governance under the NPP, Mutala Mohammed noted the NPP government is not being truthful with Ghanaians thus the presentation of what he described as an incoherent budget with their premise.
The NPP he said has since they took office has been engaging in lies and vilification of the NDC instead of focusing on good governance.
According to him, the NPP is currently attacking the EC chair to discredit the next election that the NPP will lose.
He called on members of the NDC to be united in order to wrestle power from NPP.
Taking his turn at the maiden lecture, Isaac Adongo known for his critic of the NPP’s economic policies took a swipe at the Vice President Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia and the governor of the Bank of Ghana for being economical with figures.
