A Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party in the Sekondi Constituency, Benjamin Paa Kwesi Moses, is assuring developmental works for the residents of Sekondi if he is voted for in the Parliamentary Primaries.
In an interview on the Western Echo Show on Beach FM, Mr Paa Kwesi Moses bemoaned the lack of basic amenities ranging from recreational centres to market facilities, amongst others.
According to him, the current Member of Parliament in the constituency has done little for the constituents in his two years in office.
“As I speak, Wise and Hasacass are no more because they don’t have a park. So the Gyandu Park is one of my ambitions, and when I come to power, I will make sure the Gyandu is given a facelift to become ultra-modern. When you come to Sekondi, you will not get anywhere to get fresh air; you may have to go to Alan Beach or Funko Beach.
“We are close to the coast, so the Essel Lagoon is there to be given a facelift into a modern beach facility where the youth will be able to go and have fun. The CNC will be given a facelift so that a lot of activities can take place over there.”
“Last on my list is the Sekondi Market. When you go to Sekondi Market, you will not like the facility.
Paa Kwesi Moses is going to do a modern Sekondi market when he gets the privilege for the people of Sekondi. I will lobby for the Sekondi market to be given a facelift.” Mr. Moses mentioned.
He says that unlike Takoradi, where major infrastructural development is taking place, the same cannot be said for Sekondi.
Mr. Moses argued that Sekondi, as a constituency, also deserves a modern market centre and promised to give the existing market a facelift.
“The city is a twin city. I was expecting the government to do the two at the same time, but because of one or two things, we started with Takoradi. The next project should be Sekondi.
Sekondi is older than Takoradi, so if we want to build a market, fine; if Takoradi is a commercial market, we don’t have any issues. That’s why I’m saying that when I get the privilege, I will give a facelift to Sekondi Market,” he said.
