Dr. Afriyie Akoto believes that the NPP is not in a strong position to contest and retain power in 2024
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed concerns about the party’s chances in the 2024 election, citing low morale among its supporters due to unfulfilled promises.
Speaking to the media in Kumasi during his tour ahead of the November 4 delegates conference, Dr. Akoto emphasized the need to address the issue of unfulfilled promises within the party.
He believes that the NPP is not in a strong position to contest and retain power in the upcoming election, given the current state of morale among its activists.
Dr. Afriyie Akoto urged party delegates to consider electing him as the party’s leader during the November 4 conference, as he believes he is the perfect candidate to address the challenges facing the NPP and fulfill its promises to the people.
He pointed out that his experience as a Member of Parliament in Kwadaso has given him a clear understanding of the problems on the ground and the concerns expressed by party activists.
“I have a very clear understanding of the problems on the ground because I have been a Member of Parliament in Kwadaso here in Kumasi so I understand the concerns expressed by activists on the ground.”
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto is one of four politicians vying for the NPP‘s presidential candidacy in the upcoming primary, scheduled for November 4, 2023. The primary is expected to involve over 210,000 party delegates.
