Ruth Kadiri criticizes Ghanaian TV stations for broadcasting her film without authorization

Nigerian filmmaker and producer Ruth Kadiri has issued a stern warning of legal action against Ghanaian TV stations that broadcast her films without proper permission or authorization.

In a viral video, the actress expressed her love for Ghana and acknowledged the support she has received but voiced her disappointment at the violation of her intellectual property rights.

Ruth Kadiri revealed that she has observed this practice numerous times and even considered watermarking her work as a preventive measure, though she ultimately decided against it.

She emphasized the significant expenses involved in filmmaking and the challenges it entails, highlighting the importance of protecting her creative efforts.

The Nigerian filmmaker made it clear that she expects TV stations to cease this practice immediately or face the consequences.

Ruth Kadiri stated that the next TV station found infringing on her copyrights will be contacted by her legal team.

“I love the country as a whole but I am very disappointed that a major TV station in Ghana would go on my platform, rip my content apart, show it on TV like they have the license to do that.”

“It is not even just one, not two, not three. I don’t want to put a watermark on my contents because I feel like it’s going to make it look tacky. This is the first warning and it is going to be the last one, because the next time, you’re going to hear from my lawyers.”

“I beg you, let’s not start dragging ourselves through the mud. I expect so much from you because you know how expensive it is to create content and instead of you to buy this content,  you would rather rip it and show it on national TV,” she said.
