Teachers Encouraged To Improve On Competence And Professionalism

2022 World Teachers Day is marked with a call on teachers to keep up with the good works by inculcating morals and discipline in children entrusted in their care.

World Teachers Day which is observed on October 5 each year is a global celebration conveyed by the International Labour Organisation, UNICEF and Education International.

Speaking at this year’s commemoration, a Teacher at Ampeasem D/A Primary School in the Mpohor District, Kwesi Boakye Yiadom encouraged teachers to put in their best always and not only when the need arises, even when conditions of work are not favourable.

“We know the plight of teachers we cannot even count them but we still hold on and advise our teachers to give out their best regardless of the conditions of service,” He said.

Mr Boakye Yiadom called on teachers to be keen with new perspective of doing things, i.e teaching and how they can better themselves as teachers.

This he said, is to make education givers be in tune with the changing phases of teaching.

Mr Yiadom stressed the need for teachers to attend educational workshops and seminars to equip themselves.

He noted that although working conditions for teachers are often not good, they still have a duty to serve their country and humanity.

Mr Yiadom mentioned the high cost of living, amidst low salaries as some of the challenges.

He, therefore, called on the government and other relevant agencies to help them resolve some of these issues.
