Hundreds of millions of girls and women around the world are menstruating, yet a substantial proportion of them lack the knowledge and means to manage their menstrual health safely and with dignity.
Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed globally on May 28 to create awareness and highlight the importance of menstrual hygiene management.
As part of the effort to support the girl-child manage menstruation safely and hygienically on the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day, Beach FM 105.5 your most authoritative dial-in partnership with Virtuous Boardroom, an organization with the core mandate of developing and empowering the girl-child and women in their respective networks have donated some sanitary towels to the Ntankoful and Mampong basic schools.
Vice President of the NGO Nana Yaa Arthur, speaking at the event stated the core mandate and reasons they pursue this positive agenda.
“For Virtous Boardroom our mission is to support young girls and women to reach their highest potential , this is one of the projects that is very close to our hearts ,we did same last year ,supporting 300 girls with 6 months supply of sanitary towels ,we’re replicating same this year, ” she said.
Expressing her profound gratitude for the gesture Mrs Veronica Appiah, Headmistress of Mampong Basic School had this say.
“I want to say a big thank you to the Ladies who have been good to us by giving the children sanitary pad for them to be using when having their cycle ,I think it will go a long way to help the children ,we are looking forward for next year, on behalf of the staff and children I say thank you,” she noted.
Some students expressed their joy and thanked the NGO for the donation.
Female inmates at the Sekondi Prisons were not left out of the donation as Virtuous Boardroom embarked on the education and donation exercise.
