We Are Working With Police Administration To Double Personnel Guarding Bullion Van – Association of Bullion Van Operators

President of the Association of Bullion Van Operators, Alhaji Iddi Sumaila has said it is working with the Police administration to double the personnel guarding each bullion van during operations.

The Association, he said will work to provide each person with a bulletproof vest to protect security personnel.

Speaking to the media, Mr Sumaila said the group is also working to get a permanent solution to the recurring problem of robbery attacks.

“Aside from implementing the full regime of armoured vehicles is also to look at what happens if a cashier or policeman comes out of the vehicle to attend to a client, that is where the danger is.
So we are trying to get them a bulletproof vest, and also working hand-in-hand with the Police administration to sensitize police on what to do,” Mr. Sumaila noted.

He said the Association is considering increasing the number of police personnel in each armoured vehicle.

Security Analyst Adib Sanni called for re-training of police personnel on operating vans and how to conduct themselves when on duty.

Mr Adib Sanni mentioned that all stakeholders be it the media, Bank of Ghana and others must play their part to nip such occurrences in the bud.
