Multi-Party System Is Our Major Problem – Aboagye Boampong

A Pan Africanist, Aboagye Boampong has expressed concern over the country’s practice of a multi-party system .

According to him, a multi-party system is the major enemy which accounts for the slow pace of development.

“No country is going to develop based on a 4-year and 8-year plan, it doesn’t work like that. That is not how we build a country. Multi-party democracy is a major problem facing this country,” He stated.

For him, most leaders who are elected into office are indebted and only think of settling their debts as they plan for the next elections.

He posits that lawmakers rush to pass bills into law because they are influenced by money from external bodies.

” If our MPs will be truthful to open up about their indebtedness, you will know that they are in office to settle their debt and not to work for the development of the country. Most of the bills which come into parliament are passed hurriedly because of the money with comes with it,” He mentioned.

He blames successive leaders for not addressing this issue.

Mr Boampong stressed that until the country resists pressure from external control on the economy amongst other things, the country will continue to witness economic hardship.

He mentioned this in an interview with Spice 91.9 FM Morning Show Adzekyee Mu Nsem.
