Black Queens annihilate hapless Niger by 9:0

Ghana’s Black Queens today hammered group A counterparts, Niger by 9:0 in the second group game of the WAFU Women’s Cup of Nations.
Stopgap coach Mercy Tagoe introduced three new faces to the Queens starting lineup, Jane Ayiyem, Mavis Owusu and Rita Okyere who had starting berth in the previous game this time were replaced by Ruth Appiah, Philicity Asuako and Alice Kusi.




After falling narrowly to host Ivory Coast in the opening game of the tournament, Ghana’s female national team showed great intent by putting 9 goals pass Niger in the second group game.
Skipper Portia Boakye registered the first of what will become a goal fest as Ghana finished the first half 5:0.
Janet Egyir, Ruth Appiah, Grace Asantewaa and Priscilla Okyere found their names on the scorecards to ensure the opponent had no chance of fighting back into the game after recess.
Ghana begun the second half just as they left off in the first, skipper Portia Boakye added her second on the day, Jane Ayiyem came on to score twice before Center Back, Janet Egyir again rose highest to pounce in Ghana’s 9th goal.
The pair of Faustina Ampah and Janet Egyir ensured the backline stood resolute.
The Black Queens on Sunday, February 18 will be playing Burkina Faso in the final group A game.
