MAN JAILED 18 MONTH FOR STEALING DESK TOP COMPUTER

 

Prestea magistrate court presided over by his worship Frank Addo Ashitey has handed 18 months’ prison sentence to Samuel Anderson a small scale miner based in Prestea for stealing a set of desktop computer and WI-FI internet modem from the birth and death office in Prestea in the Western Region.
The Police Prosecutor, Detective Sergeant Ayitey explained to the honorable court that, complainant Regina Kwakye is a public servant at Birth and Death registry at Prestea.
Accused persons Samuel Anderson and Daniel Abogye, a galamseyer and computer technician respectively and also residents of Prestea.
On 31st January, 2018, complainant reported for work and detected thieves has broken into her office and steal their RLG set of desktop computer system and Wi-fi internet modem.
A report was made to police. In the course of investigation, the computer monitor was found displayed in A2’s shop at Krutown also a suburb of Prestea and he was arrested.
In his caution statement, he denied the offence and alleged he bought the monitor from Takoradi, but when the police insisted to send him to Takoradi for further investigation, he confessed and mentioned A1 as the one who sold the monitor to him at GH¢150.00. A1 was subsequently arrested led the police to retrieve the computer system unit together with its keyboard and computer mouse from his friend’s rood at Bondaye.
After inspecting the system unit, It was detected that it’s power park has been changed whilst the hard disk also removed.
After investigation, the accused persons were charged with the offences and were sentence to 18 months imprisonment.
