Assistant Headmaster of St. John’s School, Mr. Francis Atsugah has revealed the reason behind the school’s inability to participate in this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz Regional competition.
St. John’s School didn’t turn up for the Regionals of the 2018 National Science and Maths Quiz which was held on Monday and Tuesday of February 5 and 6 at the Ghana National Association of Teachers(GNAT) Hall, Fijai.
Aside the three seeded schools(Takoradi Senior High School, Ghana Secondary Technical School and Archbishop Porter Girls Senior High School) eight other slots were picked during the two days test on Science and Maths.

16 schools failed to turn up for the competition including St. John’s School, the closest school to the competition grounds (GNAT hall) that didn’t turn up.
Beachfmonline.com was at St. John’s School on Thursday, February 8 to find out the reason for their failure to show up and Mr. Francis Atsugah, Assistant Headmaster of Administration stated that the School didn’t turn up because of their ill-preparation and failure to push high at the national level in previous editions of the competition.
“We are always there at the nationals, but cannot make it up to the top as one of the best schools. We don’t want to go and make up the numbers, no disgrace this time, so we opted not to compete this year, we will prepare for next year’s competition.” – Ass.
