Gas and Petrol Tanker Drivers To Begin Sit-Down Strike Today

Gas Tanker Drivers and Petrol Tanker Unions have hinted of a sit-down strike beginning today, August 1, 2022.

The Association says, the decision to lay down their tools is triggered by poor working conditions and unfair treatment of drivers by Bulk Oil Storage Transportation (BOST) and National Petroleum Authority (NPA) which stems from the continuous ban on LPG stations under construction since 2017.

Chairman of the Union, George Nyawono, said all efforts to get the government to address their concerns have proved futile.

He said, some Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) stations owned by Ghanaians are banned from operation. He expressed concern over the huge sums of monies invested into such businesses, which hasn’t seen the light of day.

Chairman Nyawono said, the Association knows the consequences of their actions and is calling on authorities to heed their demands.
