Private Schools Produce Good Results At The Basic Level – Chairman of GNAPS

Major of good results at the basic level comes from the private schools, the Western Regional Chairman of Ghana Private Schools Association (GNAPS) Charles Mintabah has said.

He stated on the Spice FM’s Adekyee Mu Nsem with Kwame Offie Tuesday, April 26 that private schools have the facilities to make students excel in their academics.

“You can’t take it from us because of the structures put in place. When you come to St. Peter’s School, Morning Glory and the likes have established science labs, computer labs and structures that make people get quality education,” he stated.

Mr Mintabah opined that such private schools cannot be compared to public schools in the hinterland because structures put in both schools are entirely different irrespective of the qualification of tutors but said supervision is key to the private schools.

Furthermore, he maintained that the job security of tutors rests on proprietors and that the performances of teachers are based on the results students produce.

On the other hand, he observed that teachers in public schools are transferred as a result of low performance but that can’t be said of the private school.

Mintabah’s comments come on the back of the Education Minister’s call on grade A schools to accept students with low grades and work on them.

Charles Mintaba stated that the 30 percent quota given to the public schools is unfair as the private schools are neglected.

“If we look at the placement system, it is working against us because we thought that it was one of the best thing for school system, ” he said.
